Steve Weids, Atlas’ Head of Sales, was recently quoted in Ella Lister’s article, ‘Rising Values’, in Decanter Magazine's 2015 Italy Guide.
Frustration caused by pricing of recent vintages of Bordeaux have spurred merchants and investors alike to consider the value offered by Italy. As Lister writes, ' Wine merchants are augmenting their Italian offerings, auction houses are dedicating more and more catalogue space to Italy, and even investment funds are making room in their portfolios for blue-chip Italian wines'.
For SuperTuscans in general comments Weids, ‘pricing is favourable even in heralded vintages and you therefore cannot cite a vintage today which trades below its release price.’ While the wines of Piemonte also offer potential, he cautions that ‘Paper values may flatter and it may not be as easy to place the wine when it comes to eventual sale.’
