Gareth Davies’ interest in fine wine developed during a year’s stint as an English teacher in Reims in the heart of Champagne, visiting a number of Champagne houses. This experience prompted him to further his understanding of fine wine by working a harvest in Regnié, Beaujolais where he learned the intricacies of wine production. Travels throughout New World regions (South America, New Zealand and Australia) cemented his interest in wine and he joined the trade in 2011. First working with an importer and distributor in Guildford, he then moved into a role in off-trade sales for one of the UK’s leading independent drinks businesses. Keen to develop within a client-facing role in the fine wine sector, Gareth joined Atlas in 2014. His academic background in Business Administration (University of Kent) coupled with three years of industry experience have proven instrumental in building new business objectives at Atlas and leading the trade function. He has also passed his WSET diploma and continues to build on his wine knowledge.
